Male or female, the Shih Tzu is known for its happy, playful disposition and devil-may-care charm. They come in a huge variety of colors, solids and parti-colors. The Shih Tzu´s small size (8 - 12 lbs.) is compatible with travelling, apartment-living, or just snuggling in bed with their favorite person, without being so small as to be fragile.

The Shih Tzu is an amazingly healthy and resilient breed. With its hair clipped short, the Shih Tzu will follow you anywhere. If you care to keep a long, flowing coat you will be rewarded with one of the loveliest breeds of dog in the world!

There is no dander in the Shih Tzu coat; therefore they are the breed of choice for allergy-sufferers. The silky coat is akin to human hair in that it grows until you cut it - or until it breaks off naturally. For the Shih Tzu regular grooming is a necessity, long coat or short, just as you shampoo and brush your own hair. Because of this, the Shih Tzu should not be purchased as a child´s pet. Shih Tzu LOVE children and are hardy enough to play all day with them, but when it´s time for grooming, they need the gentle hands of an adult who loves them.
